Supports laboratory operations by assisting with administrative tasks, specimen management, equipment upkeep, and coordination with team members and supervisors. Ensures accurate specimen identification, safe laboratory practices, and efficient communication within the facility.
1. Maintains adherence to workplace safety guidelines and emergency protocols.
2. Proficient in departmental policies and procedures.
3. Demonstrates effective communication skills with coworkers and management.
4. Manages inventory levels and replenishes supplies when needed.
5. Conducts basic maintenance on laboratory equipment.
6. Flexibly adjusts work priorities to address urgent situations.
7. Follows established guidelines to assess specimen acceptability.
8. Assists in specimen procurement, reception, and tracking.
9. Ensures accurate patient data registration in the system.
10. Processes samples using pneumatic tube systems.
11. Accurately labels specimens and resolves identification discrepancies.
12. Prepares samples for laboratory instrument testing.
13. Coordinates specimen shipments to reference labs.
14. Organizes specimen storage according to protocols.
15. Provides clerical support to lab staff members.
16. Facilitates test result transmission via phone and fax.
17. Archives documents as needed.
18. Provides clear guidance to patients and lab clientele.
19. Measures and dispenses chemicals for specimen containers.
20. Demonstrates expertise in staining techniques for microbiology and hematology.
21. Sets up cultures and incubates specimens for analysis.
22. Conducts waived testing under supervision.
23. Reviews sputum cultures for quality.
24. Upholds safety standards in the laboratory.
25. Performs rapid antigen tests in microbiology.
26. Maintains workstation cleanliness for hygiene purposes.
27. Executes additional assigned tasks as required.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education: High School diploma required; coursework in relevant fields like medical technology or biology is advantageous.
Experience: Previous exposure to customer service and effective communication is vital.
Certifications/Licensure: No mandatory certifications.
