Job Summary
The Medical Support Specialist is responsible for providing continuous support to an assigned patient to ensure their well-being under the guidance of the unit’s Lead Physician Assistant.
This role is part of the SEIU1199 Eastern division at Boston Regional Medical Center.
The position reports to the Director of Medical Services and adheres to established organizational and departmental protocols.
Provide ongoing support to the designated high-risk patient until relieved by a designated member of the healthcare team.
Promptly report any observed changes in the patient’s condition to the patient’s healthcare provider.
Qualifications
The Medical Support Specialist is responsible for providing continuous assistance to an assigned patient to ensure their safety under the direction of the unit’s Lead Physician Assistant.
This role is affiliated with the SEIU1199 Eastern division at Boston Regional Medical Center.
Reporting to the Director of Medical Services, this position operates within established organizational and departmental guidelines.
Provide continuous assistance to the designated high-risk patient until relieved by a designated healthcare team member.
Promptly report any observed changes in the patient’s condition to the patient’s healthcare provider.
Perform the following duties as necessary to uphold patient comfort and safety:
• Prevention of falls
• Aid in readjusting patient’s limbs in bed as needed
• Clear clutter or items within the patient’s reach
• Offer support with toileting
• Assist patient in walking (utilizing appropriate aids)
• Provide meals and fluids
• Aid in turning and repositioning while upholding patient privacy and dignity
• Know when and how to request assistance
