Position Description:

Shift: Evening Shift

The Children’s Mentor (CM) is entrusted with the duty of delivering compassionate care and services to all children, emphasizing respect and unconditional support. The CM plays a crucial role in fostering a sense of community among young individuals that is inclusive and affirming, ensuring they feel welcomed, acknowledged, listened to, and appreciated. It is the CM’s responsibility to inspire and empower children by fostering an environment that actively engages them and gives them a platform to express their thoughts and make choices. The CM also offers personalized, supportive care to children who frequent the Children’s Engagement Center.

Responsibilities:

  • Guide children in setting and achieving their goals for success. Collaborate with them to explore current and future prospects.
  • Establish a nurturing rapport with children that motivates them to speak up and connects them with opportunities, experiences, and resources that enrich and elevate their lives.
  • Ensure the children’s needs are consistently met, emphasizing safety while providing guidance and upholding a flexible approach.
  • Create educational opportunities that empower children with choice and adaptability.
  • Foster a dynamic environment where children can experience supportive interactions.
  • Seek out opportunities to engage with children in all program settings.
  • Participate in scheduled success plan meetings.
  • Attend daily community gatherings.
  • Record details of client interactions, monitor caseload progress, and engage with external agencies as necessary.
  • Complete all relevant documentation including census reports, intake forms, assessments, and transition plans.
  • Handle and document petty cash and transportation vouchers allocation.
  • Utilize agency resources, such as vehicles, computers, and telephones, for authorized purposes only.
  • Expected to check and respond to company emails and voicemails daily.
  • Assist as required with fundraising events and special programs, even if outside regular working hours.
  • Participate in assigned professional development activities.
  • Fulfill any additional duties delegated by the Service Manager or Director of Programs.

Applicants must be available to work the following schedule: Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday 2:30 PM – 10:30 PM Days Off: Thursday & Friday

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Preferably hold a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a human service or related field.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills, crisis management abilities, and the capability to handle physically demanding situations.
  • Possess strong assessment and decision-making skills.
  • Hold a valid driver’s license with an insurable driving record.
