We are currently seeking a Sample Processing Technician (Part-Time, 20 hours per week) at our state-of-the-art facility in Springfield, IL.

Schedule: Tuesday-Saturday, (1:00am – 5:00am), with rotation for additional weekend shift every 4-6 weeks post-training

Position Overview:

The Sample Processing Technician plays a crucial role in sorting and handling various samples upon arrival at our laboratory.

Responsibilities:

• Efficiently sort all incoming samples for timely processing.

• Proficient in categorizing samples by type: Cardiovascular, Pediatric, Neurological, Endocrine, Immunology, and Microbiology
• Familiarity with all sample categories
• Understanding of delivery schedules and expected sample volumes
• Capable of managing spills or damaged samples
• Accurate documentation and understanding of processing and sorting protocols for Rush orders, Regular samples, Pediatric cases, Frozen specimens, Urgent requests, Air transport shipments, and Courier deliveries
• Consistent delegation and organization of tasks for all Processing Technicians
• Attention to detail, precision, and quality are paramount in daily operations

Minimum Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent qualification
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume work environment
• Effective multitasking skills
• Proficient in spoken and written English
• Aptitude for numerical data

Physical Expectations:

• Role involves extended periods of sitting, standing, and walking, up to eight hours
• Able to lift objects up to 50 pounds and handle items weighing up to 25 pounds
• Responsibilities include lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling various objects

Working Environment:

• Job duties entail handling samples, forms, hygiene protocols, biohazardous substances, and chemical hazards
• Tasks are diverse, with potential noise and interruptions leading to stress and distraction
