Job Overview

Reporting to the Food Service Supervisor and collaborating with the Lead Food Service Associate, the role of Food Service Specialist involves ensuring patient satisfaction through efficient meal and food service. Catering to a diverse range of patients, from infancy to late adulthood, the Food Service Specialist plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality care.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and organize assigned station for upcoming meals, optimizing efficiency and service quality.
  • Handle patient meal trays in a timely and hygienic manner to guarantee safe consumption.
  • Maintain proper stock levels in adherence to set standards and accurately document inventory.
  • Adhere to food safety guidelines, ensuring the correct handling and preparation of all food items.
  • Follow recipes to consistently produce safe, nutritious, and delicious meals that align with budget requirements.
  • Adhere to CDC hand hygiene protocols to maintain a clean and sanitary environment.
  • Prepare and serve beverages and food items according to specifications, ensuring quality and presentation.
  • Properly store and utilize leftover food items within specified timeframes.
  • Package and label hot food items for patient and cafeteria service, following designated guidelines.
  • Assist in various areas as needed, undergoing cross-training for different tasks within the food service department.
  • Participate in dishwashing and equipment cleaning duties to uphold sanitation standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of food, equipment, and work areas.
  • Perform routine cleaning tasks to uphold a safe and hygienic environment.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as delegated by superiors.
